Musicy Musicy

Surpise! Today, I worked for a half hour. I ran through "Rosymedre" without any difficulty. I also played the 6/8 section of Second Suite in F part 1. didn't really have any problems with it and using B flat has pretty much become second nature (just so you know, like when I practice it right before band rehearsal). I also played a few scales in thirds. I also practiced "Pirates" for about ten minutes, not having problems with it (note to self: remember to use a metronome), because I spent alot of time working on that piece, and combined with all of the previous stuff, I only played around with the stuff in the blue book (you know, The russian sailor dance , greensleeves, and when johnny comes marching home) for about fuve minutes.

Mostly About Pirates

I worked for thirty minutes. I spent about twenty minutes on "Pirates" and I am pleased to say that I can still play the beginning of "Thye Black Pearl" great. the song is going great, I think this is because we played it last year and I could play it O.k. then. I spent the rest of the time going through a couple of chromatic scales, playing through a few song in the blue book and practicing a part or two of "Rumble On The High Plains". When I did the chromatic scales, I played a couple of andom scales (that means I started scales on some random notes because all chromatic scales are exactly the same). I played "The Russian Sailor Dance" a few times [its comin'' on well]. And finaly, I played select peices on "Rumble" without any difficulties.

Practical Practice

Thirty minutes of practice, five minutes were spent on chromatic scales. I started work on line three, though it doesn't matter what key signature it's in (I just looked at the line to find out the note that the line started on). For the next twenty minutes, I worked on band music. I started that section of practice by running "Rhosymedre", it was pretty easy to do. Next, I spent the rest of the time wotking with "Second Suite". Part one was done great especially sections H and on. I also worked on part four, that part is coming a little slower (note to self: remember to use the metronome). For the last five minutes, I just played around with songs from the blue book. I mostly just did "Russian Sailors Dance" I am getting pretty good at it. I also played "Greensleves", I am also getting good at that song as well.

Music Stuff

This afternoon, I worked for 30 minutes. Half of that time was dedicated to the chromatic scales. I basically got it down. All I have to do is remember the articulation and remember that the low notes have to be low. After that, I worked on band music for ten minutes. half of that time was spent on "Light eternal" bar 156 and on. That is goin' great (except for playing the 'E' instead of the 'D') also, I am confident that I am playing it at the speed that it is normally played in the band. 5 minutes were spent on "Second Suite". March is pretty much awesome and I am confident that Fantasia is also coming along nicely (I also got the 1 beat per bar section down). I should work on the Irish music (and I assure you that there is Irish music in that peice).

the other five minutes were spent on some random peices in the blue book, just for fun.

Today, I spent another thirty minutes practicing. For about ten of those minutes, i worked (once again) on the chromatic scales. That part is going great, I am basically ready for the test. Gonna try to go a little faster and keep the articulation in mind when I practice it tomorrow. For the rest of the time, I worked on "Light Enternal". I spent alot of that time on measure 156. Its going smoothly, except in one bar, I keep playing E when I am trying to play a D (I should remember to work on that later). I also worked a little on bar 81. I know that I got it down great (still gonna get a new one ripped though). I also forgot to play something that I find enjoyable (gotta remember to do that).
** Also, a cover for a finger button fell off when I was working on that, I still have it in my case.

Make up you own title

Practiced for about 1/2 hour. spent about fifteen minutes of it on those annoying chromatic scales. I am fairly sure that I got the fingering down pat, but my range needs a little work and I would like to play it a little faster (I guess I have to sllowly play faster). I also worked of "Second Suite" for about ten of the remaining minutes. I am positive that I can do part 4 well, but I am never sure (it just doesn't sound exactly right because the second part of the first bar is a tie, it would sound so much better if they were articulated normally). Practiced on the 6/8 portion of part 1 as well, that section is going great. I still plan to work on it a little over the weekend to make sure it's good. for about the last 5 minutes on "Russian Sailor Dance". I think I'm gettin' good at it.

worked for approx. 30 min. spent probably 15 - 20 minutes on those chromatic scales. had a little probelm, mostly with my range (my low 'C' sounds like my mid 'C', and if it doesn't, it sounds a little squeaky). I also seem to have a problem getting my little finger to reach the flippin' key for the low C sharp and the fingering for the G flat just kinda came out of nowhere,
there is a weird little key that I have never even used (or possibly even seen) before. Luckily, I plan on taking my instrument home over the weekend so I have time to practice before the test. I think I should start off slow and build up speed.

I also spent some time on "Second Suite". I think I got the 6/8 section in part 1 down fairly well. But, for the fourth section I am not quite sure (I can't really hear the Irish song that well), using the metronome while practicing should make my rhythm come together better, that may just be the problem.

Notification of practice

Spent a good deal of practice time working on
"Second Suite". Had a little difficulty workingon part 1 H-K. that time signature
is sooo annoying. I am going to see if I can find that section played only on the sax
so I can see whether or not I am totally off base with it. Also worked on part 4,,, I probably am off base with this part.

Worked on Rhosymedre for a little while, I think that I got
measure 25 down a little more
